Scholarships/Funding

Please select your state:

National ACT NSW NT Qld SA Tas Vic WA

You can find sources of financial assistance for music study in your state by clicking on the state name. The National list is for financial assistance programs that do not require applicants to be resident in any particular state nor require the study to take place in any particular state.

Listed here are awards that offer music instruction directly, usually in a specified institution, free of charge or for a reduced fee, and awards that offer a cash prize or other assistance such as travel and accommodation, intended to be used to undertake music study. In the latter case, the winner usually has some freedom to choose where or with whom to study.

There are many other music competitions that award cash prizes with no requirement or intention that the money must be used for music study -- although winners could choose to do so. These are not listed here. Members of the Music Council of Australia Network receive information by fortnightly email bulletins about such competitions. For more information on this service, please check http://www.mca.org.au/networks.htm

FUNDING SOURCES

Please be aware that ‘Music. Play for Life’ does not provide grants or funding. Some of our campaigns, such as the FLAME Awards and the Music in Communities Awards, offer prize money. Other than these, there are no funds available for us to help with your music project, however worthy it is. Instead, we keep our ear to the ground about funding sources and list them here.
