OzOpera (Opera Australia):

The Schools Company has a reputation as one of the most important arts education programs to be offered to Australian school students. The mission of the program has two primary aims:

  • To introduce children between the ages of five and twelve to the experience of opera.
  • To enhance classroom learning in the areas of music and drama.

Preparation and follow up activities are an integral part of the opera's performance process. The operas are developed in consultation with the Departments of School Education in each state to ensure the parity with curriculum guidelines in school music, drama and social sciences. A visit by the Schools Company generates a great deal of interest and excitement in school communities and is often the first experience of live theatre for many of the students.
